Product Description

Aciloc 150 mg is used to prevent or treat ulcers in the stomach and intestines. It is used in short-term treatment for active ulcers caused due to Zollinger-Ellison syndrome that causes excess acid production in the stomach. It is used as maintenance therapy for ulcer patients at a reduced dosage. Ranitidine is the main salt composition of Aciloc that helps treat reflux conditions, during which the backflow of acid from the stomach into the oesophagus causes heartburn. It may be prescribed to patients experiencing erosive esophagitis, in which constant acid reflux damages the oesophagal lining.

How To Use

For active duodenal ulcers, benign gastric ulcers, gastric reflux, maintenance of erosive esophagitis, and patients with Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: 150 mg of the drug should be taken twice daily. Alternatively, 300 mg of the drug may be taken daily before bedtime. A single dose of 150 mg is recommended at bedtime to maintain healing duodenal and gastric ulcers. For erosive esophagitis, 150 mg of Ranitidine is prescribed four times daily. The dose for children and elderly people changes according to weight, age, and condition. Take this medicine as your doctor prescribes regularly according to your condition and age. Take this medicine orally with a glass of water. Swallow the tablet as a whole, and do not chew. Take the drug 30-60 minutes before meals.

Precautions

Ranitidine may worsen pre-existing immune, liver, or kidney problems, such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, tumours, etc. Before consuming the drug, tell your doctor if you are allergic to Ranitidine or other H2-histamine blockers. Do not smoke or drink alcohol while you are taking this drug. Smoking and drinking will prevent optimal healing of ulcers. Call your doctor immediately if your stool appears black. It may be a sign of a bleeding ulcer.

This drug may cause dizziness. Do not drive, use machinery, or perform any activities that require extreme alertness. Elderly people have decreased capacity to eliminate this drug. Please consult your doctor before taking this drug. Avoid caffeine and certain spices that may aggravate ulcers. Ranitidine may prevent the optimal effectiveness of the following drugs: atazanavir, delavirdine, gefitinib, glipizide, ketoconazole, midazolam, procainamide, propantheline, triazolam, and warfarin. It interferes with antifungals, such as ketoconazole. NSAIDs, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen, can cause gastric ulcers. Do not consume Ranitidine with other H2-histamine blockers, such as cimetidine and famotidine. Let your doctor know if you are taking any of these drugs.

Side Effects

Common side effects include headaches, pain, or burning. Serious side effects include abnormal heart rates, chest pain, coughing of green or yellow mucus, easy bruising, vision problems, fever, nausea, stomach pain, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-coloured stools, constipation, dizziness, insomnia, vertigo, mental confusion, depression, rashes, hair loss, thrombocytopenia, liver problems, jaundice, hepatitis, increased susceptibility to pneumonia, diarrhoea, and possible masking of stomach cancer.

The drug may increase susceptibility to Clostridium difficile colitis. Seek immediate medical help if any of the severe side effects occur.
