Antibiotics, including Cefpodoxime, will not work for colds, influenza, or other viral diseases. When they are not required, utilising Cefoprox or other antibiotics increases the risk of contamination later that opposes anti-microbial treatment. The medicine begins to work within 2 to 3 hours of administration. You will start to feel better in just three to 5 days after taking the antibiotic drug. But it is still important to complete the treatment, even if your condition gets better.

How To Use

A convenient twice-daily oral regimen of Cefoprox can be prescribed as an effective treatment of infections of the respiratory and urinary tract and those of the skin and soft tissues. It is best to take it with food for good absorption. Take it exactly as your doctor has told you. Once the treatment is started, it is always recommended to complete a full treatment course. The medicine is only effective for treating infections caused by bacteria. Taking an antibiotic medication when it is not required can make it less effective for future infections. Your doctor may prescribe the medication only if the benefit is greater than the risk of harm to the baby.

Precautions

Cefoprox 200 mg should be used with caution in patients with previous hypersensitivity reaction to cefpodoxime penicillins, cephalosporins, or other drugs and penicillin sensitivity. Antibiotics such as Cefpodoxime should be used under the supervision of a doctor. The antibiotic drug should not be used if severe or bloody diarrhea occurs during treatment. In some patients, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, pseudomembranous colitis linked to Clostridium difficile can be reported using the Cefoprox tablet. Prolonged use of Cefpodoxime may result in the overgrowth of bacteria. Interaction with alcohol is still unknown, so it is advisable to consult a doctor before consumption. The antibiotic drug may not be a safe option for pregnant and breastfeeding ladies. The active ingredient of the medicine may enter breast milk at low levels.

Side Effects

Cefoprox 200 mg is generally well tolerated, with mild to moderate gastrointestinal disturbances.   Most reported side effects associated with Cefoprox 200 mg are nausea, loss of appetite, diarreha, and stomach upset. Bloody diarrhea may occur as a symptom of enterocolitis. If severe or persistent diarrhea during or after the treatment, cephalosporins should be discontinued immediately. In these rare cases, appropriate therapy should be initiated. In some users, allergic reactions have been reported in the form of skin lesions with or without itching.
