Product Description

Drotin 40 mg is a prescription medicine used to treat smooth muscle contractions. It contains the active ingredient Drotaverine, which causes relaxation of smooth muscles, thus suppressing pain associated with spasms caused by smooth muscle contraction. The medicine is effective in relieving pain triggered due to headaches, bowel syndrome, menstrual periods, and cervical spasms during labour. Doctors may also prescribe Drotin for chest pain, kidney gallstone pain, and abdominal pain.

How To Use

Drotin 40 mg can be taken before or after consuming food. The dose and how often you take it to depend on what you take it for. Your doctor will decide the right dose for you that helps to improve your symptoms. The recommended dose for adults is usually 40 to 80 mg three times a day, but it can vary depending on your condition. Check with your doctor if you are unsure about the correct dosing regimen.

Precautions

  —  Do not use Drotin 40 mg if you are allergic to Drotaverine or other medicine ingredients.

  —  You must not take this drug if you have severe liver, kidney, or heart failure.

  —  Do not take the Drotaverine tablet if you are breastfeeding

Before taking medicine:

Tell your doctor if you are taking or you have recently taken any other medicines. In the case of concomitant use with other medicines administered for a long time, talk to your doctor for advice before taking Drotaverine tablets. Caution is advised with the concomitant use of levodopa, as the antiparkinsonian effect of levodopa may be reduced, and symptoms may worsen. 

Pregnancy- Talk to your doctor before using Drotin 40 mg. Caution is advised when taking this medicine during pregnancy. The use of this drug while breastfeeding is not recommended.   

Side Effects

Like all medicines, Drotin can cause side effects, although not everybody who uses this medicine gets them.   

  —  Gastrointestinal disorders -Nausea, constipation

  —  Cardiac diseases – hypotension, palpitation

  —  Nervous system disorders – dizziness, headache, insomnia

  —  Immune system disorders – A n allergic reaction. The symptoms include hives, rash, itchy skin, and local skin swelling.

Most side effects do not require medical help and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Inform your doctor if any side effects not mentioned in this information guide persist or if you are worried about them.
