Furamist nasal spray 120 metered dose is used to treat allergic asthma, seasonal allergic rhinitis, perennial non-allergic rhinitis, itchy nose, sneezing, stuffy nose and discomfort of hay fever. It contains the active ingredient Fluticasone Furoate, which belongs to a class of medications known as glucocorticoids. It works to decrease inflammation caused by allergic rhinitis and therefore reduces symptoms of allergy. These allergy symptoms can occur at specific times of the year and can be caused by allergy to pollen from grass or trees, or they can occur all year round, house dust mites or moulds, to name some of the common. Furamist nasal spray treat symptoms of allergic rhinitis in adults and children aged six years and over.
How To Use
Use Furamist once daily. This will treat the symptoms throughout the day and night. Some people will not feel the full effects until several days after using Fluticasone nasal spray. However, the medicine is usually effective within 8 to 24 hours of use.
The recommended dose for adults and children 12 years and over is two sprays in each nostril once daily. Once symptoms are controlled, you may be able to decrease your dose to one spray in each nostril once daily.
For children 6 to 11 years
The starting dose is one spray in each nostril once daily. If symptoms are serious, your doctor may increase your dose to two sprays in each nostril once daily until the symptoms are under control. The dose then reduces to one spray in each nostril once every day.
The medicine is sprayed into the nose as a fine mist. Be careful not to get any spray into your eyes. If the medicine accidentally goes into your eyes, rinse thoroughly with water. Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully to get the full benefit from using Fluticasone furoate nasal spray.
Precautions
Do not use Furamist nasal spray if you are allergic to Fluticasone or other medicine ingredients. Do not give this medicine to children under six years old. Using This medicine may cause eye conditions such as glaucoma or cataracts. You should let your doctor know if you have had this condition in the past or if you notice blurred vision or vision disturbances.
Side Effects
Common side effects of Furamist spray include nosebleeds, nasal ulceration, shortness of breath and headache. If you get an allergic reaction, please get medical help immediately. Allergic reaction to Fluticasone is rare; in a small number of people, allergic reactions can develop into a serious, even life-threatening, problem when not treated. Symptoms include:
— Skin redness or rashes
— Swelling around the face
— Becoming very wheezy, having trouble breathing, or coughing
In most cases of an allergic reaction, these symptoms will be signs of less serious side effects. But you should be aware that they are potentially serious. If you develop any of these symptoms, contact your doctor immediately.
