Product Description
Kenacort paste 0.1% is a dental paste used for adjunctive treatment and temporarily relieves symptomatic symptoms associated with mouth ulcers. Mouth ulcers are small painful sores developed on the inner lips, tongue, gums, roof of the mouth, or throat that may interfere with eating, drinking, swallowing, and even talking.
The paste contains the active ingredient Triamcinolone acetonide, which belongs to a group of medicines known as steroids. The medication class relieves redness and swelling in the affected area. Triamcinolone paste sticks to the wet surfaces of the mouth and forms a protective film over the ulcer/ inflammatory lesion. Therefore, it relieves pain, discomfort, and inflammation (redness or swelling).
How To Use
Press a small dab to the lesion until a thin film forms. A larger quantity may be needed to cover some of the large lesions. Use only enough to coat the lesion with a thin film for optimal results. Avoid rubbing the paste, as this may result in a granular, gritty sensation and cause it to crumble. After application, however, a smooth film develops. Do not eat or drink anything for thirty minutes after applying the oral paste. Make sure not to swallow the paste. Don’t stop using it until you have finished the course, even if you feel well. Also, do not smoke for at least thirty minutes. Do not use it for longer than your dentist has recommended, and let your dentist know if your condition does not improve for two to four weeks of treatment.
Precautions
Kenacort paste should not be used in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formulation. It is also contraindicated in the presence of viral, fungal, and bacterial mouth or throat infections. The product may occasionally irritate the application site. It is important to inform your dentist if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding and about all your medical history and the medications you use before using Triamcinolone acetonide.
It is not likely that other medicines you take orally or by injection will affect the working of Triamicinnolone; speak to your dentist if you have recently used a steroid-containing formulation before using it.
Side Effects
Kenacort paste is generally safe to use with minimal side effects. Common side effects that may occur with corticosteroid-containing dental pastes include itching, burning, dryness, itching, blistering, and allergic contact dermatitis.
