Montelukast chewable tablets 4 mg are used to treat asthma symptoms, seasonal allergic rhinitis or hay fever. Montelukast chewable tablets are a leukotriene receptor antagonist. It works by blocking a substance called leukotriene, which helps to decrease certain asthma and allergy symptoms. Montelukast sodium is the main active pharmaceutical ingredient present in the medication.

How To Use

Take Montair chewable tablets 4mg once daily in the evening. Take it every day for as long as the doctor prescribes it, even if you have no symptoms. You may take chewable tablets before or after consuming food. In case of worsening of asthma symptoms, your doctor may increase the use of your inhaled rescue medicine for asthma attacks; call your doctor straight away. Do not stop the treatment or lower the dose of your other asthma drugs unless advised by your doctor.

Usage instructions for patients 15 years of age and older for the prevention of exercise-induced asthma are given below:

• take Montelukast chewable at least two hours before exercise
• Be sure to carry your inhaled rescue medicine for asthma attacks with you
• If you take the medication daily for chronic asthma and allergic rhinitis, avoid taking an additional dose to prevent exercise-induced asthma. Talk to your doctor about your treatment of exercise-induced asthma.
• Do not take an additional dose of this medicine within 24 hours of the previous dose.

 For best results, take this medicine daily for as long as your doctor prescribes it. 

Precautions

Montair chewable tablets 4mg should not be used in patients with known or suspected hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients present in the formulation or an antihistamine containing hydroxyzine. It is not suitable for patients with urinary retention problems such as spinal cord lesions and prostatic hyperplasia. This drug is not suitable for diabetes patients; it may cause serious changes in blood sugar. If a patient is suffering from any liver and kidney problem, including dialysis treatment or mental disorder such as depression, this drug is harmful in these conditions; therefore, it is advised to consult your doctor and let him know about your medical history before taking this drug. If the patient has a mental disorder, epilepsy problem or any other condition that cause fit, in this case, tell your doctor about your medical problem before taking this medication. Do not drive or use any machinery because using these tablets may have a minor or moderate effect on your ability to drive and use machines. They may cause dizziness, so avoid driving and the use of machines while taking this drug. Avoid consuming alcohol during the treatment. Use this drug with caution in elderly patients; older adults may be more sensitive to the side effects of this drug.

Common side effects of Montair chewable tablets 4mg can occur change in vision, vomiting, memory loss, severe dizziness, heartburn, choking, nausea, irregular heartbeat, stuffy nose, hives, stomach disturbances.
