Naltima 50 mg contains the active ingredient Naltrexone hydrochloride, which belongs to a group of medicines that are used in addictive disorders. Naltima may be given along with other medicines to help those dependent on supportive therapy maintain abstinence in alcohol-dependent patients. Naltrexone, the medicine’s active ingredient, blocks certain receptors in the brain, blocking the action of opioids.

How To Use

Before initiating Naltrexone treatment, you must not have used any other opiates for at least 7 to 10 days. Your doctor may conduct a test to establish whether you are clear of these drugs before you begin the treatment. Your doctor may begin your treatment at a dose of half a tablet per day and later increase it to one tablet per day. The recommended dose is one tablet daily unless your doctor prescribes a different dose. Naltima is taken orally in the form of a tablet. Before taking Naltrexone, you must not have used any other opiates. Follow your doctor’s advice. Take medicine for the period prescribed by your doctor. The treatment can last three months or longer, depending on your condition. Your doctor will decide the dose and duration of the treatment. Naltima tablets may be combined with other forms of treatment for better results.

Naltrexone must be used only for the disorder for which your doctor has prescribed this medicine.  

The medicine is combined with other medications or therapy to help those dependent on drugs such as heroin overcome their addiction.  

It is used as supportive therapy in maintaining abstinence in alcohol-dependent patients.  

Naltrexone works by blocking receptors in the brain to block the action of opioids. Individuals will no longer experience the euphoria previously experienced after taking opioids.

Precautions

You should talk to your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease. Do not Naltima 50 mg if you are allergic to Naltrexone hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. If you are dependent on opiates or undergoing abstinence treatment, abstinence syndrome or an exacerbation of abstinence syndrome can occur.

If you are continuously using a medicinal product containing an opioid, for example, a certain cough

Side Effects

Naltima can cause side effects like any other medicine, although not everybody gets them. The medicine can affect your liver function. Your doctor may conduct blood tests various times during treatment to monitor your liver function. Stop taking Naltrexone 50 mg tablet if you notice dark urine, white bowel syndrome, yellowing of your eyes, or abdominal pain lasting more than a few days.

Very common side effects of Naltrexone include:

Headaches, Difficulty sleeping, Joint/muscle pain, Fast irregular heartbeat, Restlessness, Anxiety or nervousness, Feeling sick/being sick, Lack of energy and strength, Abdominal cramps and pains.
