Product Description
Sebifin cream 1% is a prescription antifungal medicine used to treat various fungal infections. It contains the synthetic antifungal compound terbinafine, intended for topical dermatologic use only. If irritation or sensitivity develops with Sebifin 1%, topical therapy should be discontinued and appropriate therapy applied.
Sebifin cream is a prescription treatment for people with:
- Athlete’s foot (Tinea pedis),
- A fungal infection of the skin known as Pityriasis Versicolor
- Dhobie itch (Tinea cruris)
- Certain yeast infections of the skin (those caused by the genus Candida)
Terbinafine, the medicine’s active ingredient, attacks and kills the fungus or yeast responsible for causing the infection.
How To Use
Always use Sebifin cream exactly as your dermatologist has told you. Be sure to check with your health care provider if you are unsure about the appropriate use of the cream. Your dermatologist will decide the right amount of this antifungal agent for you and instruct you on how long to use this medication. In general, one should apply the cream twice daily for one to two weeks, but this usually depends upon the type and area of infection.
The affected area should be cleaned and dried thoroughly before applying Sebifin cream over the fungal infection. Enough should be applied to cover the treatment areas thoroughly, including the affected skin and the surrounding area.
The cream is used to treat fungal infections of the skin. Do not apply it to the face.
Precautions
Do not use Sebifin cream if you are allergic to any product ingredients. Do not let the topical product get into your eyes. In case of accidental contact, rinse immediately with running water.
Please let your dermatologist know if you are using any non-prescription topical product. Do not use the cream if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless your health care provider advises.
Side Effects
Itching and skin peeling are commonly reported with the use of Sebifin cream. Stop using the cream and seek immediate medical advice if you develop a serious allergic reaction. These include severe skinching, hives, blisters, or a red rash: trouble breathing or swallowing, swelling of the lips, tongue, throat, tongue and lips.
