Product Description

Toba DM 3 mg and 1 mg is an anti-bacterial ophthalmic drug prescribed by doctors mainly for the treatment of bacterial infections caused due to Pseudomonas bacterial species. It treats inflammation, corneal injury, and bacterial infections in the outer part of the eye. Tobramycin and Dexamethasone Acid are the main active ingredients in the drug. Tobramycin belongs to the category of medications known as Aminoglycoside antibiotics. Dexamethasone is a corticosteroid that avoids the release of inflammatory substances. It belongs to the class of steroidal drugs and is 25 times more potent than other drugs present in this class. Together, they snub the inflammation-causing elements and cure the infection. Overuse of this medicine may result in decreased effectiveness. It should not be given to patients with known hypersensitivity to Tobramycin or dexamethasone.

How To Use

Before prescribing Toba DM for you, your doctor will examine your eyes and decide whether the ophthalmic solution is right. The recommended dose for adults is generally 1 to 2 drops into the affected eye every four hours, and it should be prescribed depending on the medical condition. In severe infection, instil two drops into the eye until improvement occurs. The dose can be adjusted by your doctor if needed. You should ask your doctor if you have questions about using Toba eye drops. The eye medication is not recommended for use in children. The safety and efficacy of eye medication have not been established in this population. 

Precautions

Do not use Toba DM if you have an allergy to Tobramycin, dexamethasone, or other formulation ingredients. Symptoms of an allergic reaction may include shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, wheezing, rash, itching, hives, and swelling of the face, lips, and tongue. Do not put the eye drops into your eyes while wearing contact lenses. The combination drops contain the preservative benzalkonium chloride, which may be deposited in contact lenses. You can wear your lenses back into your eyes fifteen minutes after you have used the eye drops. Do not use the ophthalmic solution if you have an eye infection, including infections caused by a fungus, parasite, or virus.

Toba DM should not be given to patients with kidney problems, hearing problems, myasthenia gravis, nerve disorders, pregnant women, breastfeeding women, and patients allergic to Tobramycin or other aminoglycoside antibiotics. Let your doctor know if you are taking a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) medicine in your eye. These medications are utilized for the treatment of pain and inflammation. 

Side Effects

Toba DM is known to cause severe complications, and some of them are disorientation, improper balance, increased intraocular pressure, mild or severe migraines, delayed wound healing, cataract information, indistinct speech or vision, optic nerve damage, redness of the conjunctival sac, increased intraocular pressure, itching, and swelling of eyelids.
