Product Description

Tretin cream 0.025% is a topical formulation for treating various skin disorders, including acne vulgaris and photodamaged skin. When prescribed as an antiacne treatment, Tretin often is used in combination with an antibacterial agent. The topical medicine contains the active ingredient Tretinoin, which belongs to a class of drugs known as retinoids. They work by affecting the growth of skin cells. Although the exact mode of action of Tretin is still unknown, current evidence suggests that the active ingredient Tretinoin increases the turnover of follicular epithelial cells, causing the elimination of the comedones. Tretin 0.025% is widely used in the treatment of acne vulgaris. It also helps smooth out rough facial skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles on the skin. Topical Tretinoin has been the foundation of acne therapy and is highly effective as monotherapy and when used in combination with other topical medications. It is a comedolytic agent with action against inflammatory lesions as well.

How To Use

Tretin cream 0.025% should be applied once daily in the evening to the skin where acne lesions appear, using enough to cover the entire affected area lightly. Regular nighttime application is recommended to achieve the desired effects of the medicine. For best results, follow your dermatologist’s advice. Avoid excessive use of the product. Application may cause a stinging sensation. In cases where it has been necessary to stop treatment or temporarily reduce the frequency of application, treatment may be resumed, or the frequency of application may be increased when the patients can tolerate the medicinal treatment. Changes in the dose frequency should be closely monitored by careful observation of the clinical response and skin tolerance. Cosmetics may be used, but ensure you cleanse the areas to be treated thoroughly before the medication is applied. Patients can remove hair as usual but avoid hair removal procedures (plucking, waxing, depilatories) at night just before applying Tretin. Do not apply the product to damaged or broken skin.

Precautions

Concomitant topical medications, abrasive soaps and cleansers, cosmetics that have strong drying effects, and skin care products with high concentrations of alcohol, astringent, or lime should be used with caution because of possible interaction with Tretinoin.

This topical medicine should be discontinued if a reaction suggesting sensitivity or irritation occurs. Exposure to sunlight, including sunlamps or artificial sunlight, should be minimized during Tretin therapy. Patients with sunburn are advised to avoid using a tretinoin formulation until they fully recover.

Keep the product away from the eyes, mouth, nose and mucous membrane.

Side Effects

The topical use of Tretin 0.025% may induce peeling at the application site. If local irritation increases, patients should be advised to use this medicine less frequently or discontinue use temporarily. Tretinoin has been reported to cause severe irritation in patients with eczema and should be used with caution in such patients.
