Product Description
Tretin cream 0.05% contains the active ingredient tretinoin in a cream base. It is safe and effective in treating fine facial wrinkles, mottled pigmentation, and skin roughness. Tretinoin is for patients using total skin care and sunlight avoidance program. It does not remove wrinkles or repair sun-damaged skin but reduces the appearance of fine lines and improves sun-damaged skin. It does not work for everyone who uses it. Tretin cream may work better for some patients than for others. It should be used only under the supervision of a dermatologist as a part of a sunlight avoidance and total skin care program. This skin care program should include avoiding sunlight as much as possible, using protective clothing to protect you from sunlight, using sunscreen for a maximum of 30 and using face creams that add adequate moisture to the skin.
How To Use
Tretin cream is to be used as prescribed below unless otherwise directed by your dermatologist.
- Tretin cream is for use on the face.
- Avoid contact with the eyes, nostrils, ears, and mouth. If used on these areas, the cream may cause severe itching, burning, stinging, and pealing.
- In the evening, gently wash your face with a mild soap/cleanser. Pat skin dry and wait 20 to 30 minutes before applying the cream. Apply a pearl-size amount to your face at one time. This amount is enough to cover the entire affected area.
You may use cosmetics an hour after applying Tretin cream. A moisturizer should be used at least every morning to protect the treated area from dryness.
When you use Trettin cream, you will not see improvement right away. In general, you may notice some effects in 3 to 4 months. If the treatment is stopped, the improvement may gradually disappear.
Precautions
Tretin cream should be discontinued if hypersensitivity to Tretinoin or other ingredients is noted. Do not use the cream if you have sunburned or your skin is irritated. Also, you should avoid using this cream if you are highly sensitive to sunlight. A tretinoin formulation can cause increased skin irritation and an increased chance of sunburn. Inform your dermatologist if you have any skin conditions, Tretin cream may make your skin more likely to burn from sunlight; let your dermatologist know if you are using other medicines that increase sensitivity to sunlight. You should not use Tretinoin with such medicines. These include medicines to treat blood pressure, infection and serious emotional problems.
Concomitant topical medications, medicated or abrasive soaps, cleansers, shampoos, cosmetics with a strong drying effect, products with high concentrations of alcohol, electrolysis, waxes, or hair depilatories, and products that may irritate your skin should be used carefully in patients being treated with Tretinoin cream.
Side Effects
You may feel brief warmth or stinging sensation on your skin after you use Tretin cream. Most patients report dry skin, burning, stinging, redness, itching, and peeling. These slide effects are usually mild to moderate and usually develop early in treatment. Talk to your dermatologist if the side effects are a problem.
