Product Description

Zoclar film-coated tablets contain the active ingredient clarithromycin, an antibiotic used to inhibit the growth of bacteria. Your doctor may prescribe this clarithromycin formulation when penicillin (another antibiotic) cannot be used. The medicine can be given to adults and children 12 years and older for the following bacterial infections:

Infections of the respiratory tract:  

• Inflammation of the sinuses caused by bacteria
• Sore throat, infection of the tonsils
• Acute worsening of bronchitis
• And pneumonia caused by atypical bacteria
• Skin and soft tissues infections such as:
• Acne vulgaris
• Erythrasma
• Reddening of the skin

How To Use

Take Zoclar 250 mg the same way your doctor has prescribed you. Follow the instructions carefully to get the most benefit from the medication. The medicine is effective in treating various conditions that include infection of the respiratory tract, digestive tract, and urinary tract. For adults, the elderly, and children 12 years of age, the recommended dose is 250 mg twice daily. Talk to your doctor if you are not about the correct dosage of the medicine. Your doctor may increase your dose twice daily for severe infections. If you are suffering from a severe kidney disorder, you may need to take a reduced dose, and for such patients, the treatment should not be longer than two weeks. The antibiotic drug is not suitable for children under 12 years of age or who weigh less than 30 kg. In general, a doctor may recommend treatment for 6 to 14 days.

Precautions

Do not take Zoclar 250 mg if you are allergic to clarithromycin, other macrolides, or any other ingredients of this medicine. Signs of an allergic reaction include itching, rash, trouble breathing or swelling of the face, lips, throat, and tongue. Avoid taking a clarithromycin formulation if you are taking medicines to treat migraine, angina pectoris, hypokalemia, gout, high blood cholesterol, mental illness, and allergies. You must not be taking this antibiotic medication if you have low potassium levels in your blood, heart rhythm disorders, severe liver, or kidney disorders. Talk to your doctor before taking Zoclar tablets, especially if you have developed severe diarrhea, another infection, heart disorder, kidney or liver disorder. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or think you may get pregnant during the treatment, talk to your doctor for advice before taking medicine. The film-coated tablets may cause a spinning sensation, confusion, or dizziness. If affected, you do not drive or involve in activities that require you to be alert.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Zoclar 250 mg are difficulty sleeping, rash, increased sweating, stomach pain, nausea, headache, altered taste, diarrhea, pain in the stomach region, altered liver function tests. All medicine can cause allergic reactions, although serious reactions are rare. Inform your doctor right away if you develop sudden wheeziness, trouble breathing, itching, rash, swelling of the eyelids, face, or lips.
