Acyclovir Dispersible tablet 800 mg is an antiviral medicine, which acts on infected cells by stopping the virus from growing. It contains the active ingredient Aciclovir, which is used to prevent herpes simplex infections of the skin and mucus membranes example, cold sore and genital herpes. It is effective in preventing herpes simplex infections in patients whose immune system does not function properly. Aciclovir prevents the viruses from multiplying and thus reduces the severity as well as symptoms of the infection. 

How To Use

Always take Acivir dispersible tablet 800 mg exactly as your doctor has told you. Check with your doctor if you have any doubt about the usage of the medicine. The medicine is available in the form of a tablet that you swallow with water. If you have trouble swallowing, please speak to your doctor. The dose will depend upon the type of infection you have, so make sure you take it exactly as your doctor tells you. Your doctor will tell you what dose is right for you. You can take medicine either before or after consuming food. Even if you feel your infection has cleared up, keep taking medicine unless your doctor tells you to stop. The antiviral treatment could last between2 to 10 days. If you still feel unwell after finishing the treatment, consult your doctor. Stir the dispersible tablet into a glass of water, making it easier for you to swallow the medication. Drink plenty of water while you are taking Acyclovir to keep your kidneys function well. The medicine could cause your skin to become more sensitive to sunlight than usual. Avoid tanning booths and sunbeds. Use sunscreen and other protective measures.

Precautions

Do not take Acivir dispersible tablets 800 mg if you are allergic to Aciclovir, valacyclovir, or any other medicine ingredients. If you have any doubt about using the drug, speak to your doctor before taking medicine. Talk to your doctor before taking Aciclovir if you have kidney problems, nervous system abnormalities, or over 65 years of age. To avoid dehydration, it is important to drink plenty of water during the treatment, especially if you are elderly.

Side Effects

Like any other medication, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them. Common side effects of Acivir DT are stomach pains, headache, feeling of being sick, diarrhoea, feeling dizzy, itching, feeling tired, skin reaction after exposure, not light.  If you have an allergic reaction, stop taking Acivir tablets and talk to your doctor straight away. The signs of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, shortness of breath, trouble breathing, swelling of the face, tongue, throat, or other body parts. Rarely, a user develops yellowing of your skin and whites of your eyes.
