Aziderm cream 20% is a topical treatment of mild to moderate inflammatory acne. It is for dermatological use and should be used under the supervision of a dermatologist. The exact mechanism of Azelaic acid is still not understood, but it possesses antimicrobial activity against the acne-causing bacteria.
How To Use
- Always use the medicine as prescribed by the dermatologist.
- Wash your hands and face before applying the cream to make them clean and hygienic
- Dry the skin using a soft towel and apply a thin film over the affected area
- Gently rub it into the skin well
- Avoid applying it to the normal skin
- Wash your hands once you finish handling the medication
- Do not apply near the eyes, mouth, and other mucous membranes
- Do not use large amounts of this medication or apply it more often than directed
Precautions
If sensitivity and severe irritation occur with Aziderm cream, treatment should be discontinued, and appropriate therapy should be installed. For best results, it is important to use the medication for the full prescribed period. Avoid the use of occlusive dressing and wrappings. Keep the topical formulation away from the eyes, mouth, and nose. If it does come in contact with your eyes, rinse thoroughly with running water. Report your dermatologist if you develop a dark complexion or change in skin-colour. Do not apply azelaic acid on broken or inflamed skin. Apply it once daily during nigh time. If troublesome irritation persists, speak to your dermatologist straight away. Aziderm should not be used by patients under 12 years of age as safety has not been established in such patients.
Side Effects
Side effects of Aziderm cream 20% are generally mild. The most common side effects include burning, pruritus, stinging, tingling, and burning sensation. Other side effects include rash, dryness, peeling of the skin, dermatitis, irritation, erythema, and contact dermatitis. Patients using topical Azelaic acid rarely experience allergic reactions to the use of Aziderm. A patient may rarely experience worsening of asthma, small, depigmented spots, vitiligo depigmentation, reddening,
hypertrichosis, and worsening of recurrent herpes labialis.
