Product Description

Budecort Respules 1 mg contains a medication called budesonide, a synthetic corticosteroid used to prevent and control asthma symptoms. It reduces swelling and inflammation in your lungs. A Respule is a small plastic container that contains a liquid. The liquid is put into the nebulizer. This device turns the medicine into a fine mist which you inhale through a mouthpiece. Use this nebulizer each day under the supervision of a doctor, even during symptoms free periods. Do not discontinue treatment or reduce the dose even if your child feels better unless your doctor advises you. Budecort Respules does not provide rapid relief of breathing difficulties during an asthma attack. Your doctor may prescribe an additional medication to provide relief from an acute asthma attack. Speak to your doctor if an asthma attack episode does not respond to the additional treatment. Your doctor may prescribe more of the additional medicine than usual. If your child has been prescribed other inhalers, consult your doctor to use this asthma medicine. This medicine should not be mixed with other nebulize medication. Make sure you use it separately in the nebulizer.

How To Use

Your doctor will ask you to use Budecort Respules with a compressed air-driven jet nebulizer following your doctor’s instructions. The device converts the liquid medication into a mist which then inhaled through a mouthpiece. The entire procedure takes 5 to 10 minutes. Treatment is complete when mist no longer remains in the machine. Adjust the mouthpiece to optimize delivery and to avoid exposing the eyes to the nebulized medication. Patients are advised to take Budecort Respules at regular intervals once or twice daily as directed by the doctor since its efficacy depends on regular use. It may take up to 2 to 8 days to see improvement in asthma symptoms. It may take up to 4 to 6 weeks before you see maximum improvement. Make sure your child does not miss a dose, and if he/she does by more than several hours, just let him/her take the next scheduled dose.

Precautions

Tell your doctor before starting the treatment with Budecort Respules 1 mg per 2 ml if your child is allergic to such inhaled corticosteroids or your child is taking any other medications. Also, let your doctor know if you have any infection, tuberculosis, osteoporosis, or recently have chickenpox or measles. Tell your doctor if you have surgery or has been taking an oral corticosteroid medicine like prednisone. You may have to stick to the specific regimen to avoid health complications associated with the sudden discontinuation of any of these medicines. Budecort Respules may not be suitable in some cases, and the doctor may wish to prescribe a different medicine to treat your condition.

Side Effects

As with all inhaled corticosteroids, you should be aware of certain side effects. Budecort Respules affects the immune system and is associated with a higher chance of infections. Other common side effects include increased wheezing, eye problems, and hypersensitivity reactions.
