Triluma cream is a topical medication specially made to treat melasma. It is recommended for both long and short-term use, and individuals with mild to severe melasma can apply it to get rid of dark facial spots. The cream combines three active ingredients, making it a unique formulation and more effective than treatments containing one or two active ingredients. 

The triple combination formula is extremely beneficial for treating dark spots associated with moderate to severe facial melasma. The three main active ingredients in Triluma 15 gm are 4% hydroquinone, 0.05% tretinoin, and 0.1% Fluocinolone Acetonide.

Hydroquinone is the top ingredient found in many effective topical preparations and is extremely effective in lightening skin. The active ingredient inhibits melanin production to successfully fade dark spots, freckles, sun damage, melasma, and even acne scars. By combining Hydroquinone with another skincare ingredient Tretinoin, a vitamin A derivative, Triluma cream provides skin lightening effects and anti-ageing benefits.

How To Use

Within eight weeks of continuous application, patients with moderate to severe melasma may experience a significant reduction in their brown spots. The cream should be applied every night on clean and dry skin. Skin protection with daily sunscreen is essential to achieve maximum results with the triple combination cream. If skin irritation occurs, discontinue using it and consult a dermatologist. One can also cut down the usage to every alternative day. Before application, wash the face with mild soap and pat the skin dry. Take a small amount of cream on your fingertips and apply it to the affected area as advised by your doctor. In case the medications get into your eyes. Rinse thoroughly with water. 

Precautions

Triluma cream is contraindicated in individuals with a history of hypersensitivity to this product or any of its ingredients. The topical formulation may cause and blue-black darkening of the skin.  

 Triluma cream should not be used as a maintenance treatment of melasma. After achieving control with the melasma therapy, some patients may be managed with other treatments instead of this triple combination therapy. Melasma reappears upon discontinuation of hydroquinone/tretinoin/fluocinolone.   

Excessive exposure to sunlight can cause sunburn. Existing dark patches may appear darker when the skin is exposed to ultraviolet light. Triluma cream can make you more sensitive to the sun, thus developing other unwanted effects from the sun. Therefore, it is important to protect your skin from sunlight as much as possible to help prevent further darkening of existing patches and brand-new formation of new ones. Staying away from the sun is especially important for women who take contraceptive pills or hormone replacement therapy (HRT). Such women can discuss with their health care specialists about effective alternatives for birth control. If you are pregnant, nursing mother, or planning to become pregnant, it is advised to consult a doctor before using Triluma cream.

Side Effects

Possible side effects of the topical prescription medication include skin dryness, peeling, redness, increased skin sensitivity, minor bumps, and blisters on the skin.
